A Close Look

It was nice to get some outside shots again. My new camera makes close-up shots much easier. That's great because I prefer those shots.

Annapolis fun

I went out to dinner with friends in Annapolis last night. The blue rocks were a find in the fancy restroom. The martini belonged to a friend who was celebrating her birthday and is most likely feeling a bit foggy today.

Something completely different

I took some wonderful pictures of yellow pansies today. However, as soon as I decided to get my car washed I knew that was the place to take pictures. The suds in the first two remind me of the Rorschach Test.

A little bit of window shopping

On Wednesday I drove over to the town of Havre de Grace looking for pictures. I got caught up in a cold rain and retreated quickly. Today I was there again to do a little window shopping and got these shots all within 10 feet of each other. I like the oyster shells, they remind me of driveways I've seen on the eastern shore of Maryland.

Food...a little bit of everything

I got a new camera yesterday and have been enjoying a bit of hands on learning. This is a sampling of what was on yesterday's menu.

In the spirit of Christmas I took a few more pictures of Pine trees and then found a nice Holly tree.

I took these yesterday in the late morning fog. I was attracted to the drops of water that held on to the tips of each needle.

It looks like it will be gray and foggy throughout the day. I love the way the bare branches stand out in the fog.

A Different Take on Yesterday

I decided to try the tiny pine cones in black and white to see if I liked them a little better. I think I do, but I usually do like black and white better.

A little more from the outdoor lab

Bare trees, blue skies, an iced-over pond...it was a great day to be outside.

The Outdoor Lab

On Monday and Tuesday of this week I was lucky enough to go on a science field trip to a place called The Outdoor Lab. It's a place I've been visiting for the last 15 years. With the students busy working in teams on a survival exercise I found myself with plenty of time and scenery. It's a great break from the cement walls of my windowless classroom.

Red Leaf

I noticed this red leaf, against a dark sky, while sitting on my couch. I started with a picture from inside, then moved outside for the next two pictures.

Another trip to Arlington National Cemetery

I took a trip back to Arlington National Cemetery yesterday after a friend told me she had volunteered to lay wreaths at the grave sites. Although I found only a few wreaths in the section I reached I was intrigued with the crazy sky and this one tombstone that must have been put there sometime before the tree.
