Sepia

My guitar seemed like a good object to photograph while experimenting with the Sepia setting on the camera. I like the second picture the best.

Grocery Shopping

I took these while grocery shopping. I can honestly say that today was only the third time in my life that I've taken pictures in a grocery store. Last week at Harris Teeter, where I found the orange rose, was the second time. The first time for grocery store photography? That was about 25 years ago. It was then that I found myself at the Watergate Safeway with a friend from high school who was studying at GW.

Happy to Be Outside

"Wandering re-establishes the original harmony that once existed between man and the universe." Anatole France
I didn't wander too far to get these pictures. After twenty years of driving by a small, local park yesterday was the day I finally stopped and took the time to look around a bit.

Meridian Hill

Midway in our life's journey, I went astray from the straight road and woke to find myself alone in a dark wood. - The Divine Comedy, Inferno

I rediscovered Meridian Hill today. I think I've been there one or two other times but can't recall why. At first I couldn't quite figure out what Dante was doing there, but found out the park was modelled after Renaissance and Italian gardens. I also found out that the Joan of Arc statue is the only equestrian statue in DC with a woman.
